2014

February 18, 2014
Den Of Geek: [Pinewood Studios] model makers on the Star Wars: Episode 7 project are being recruited on up to seven year contracts, which cover three sequels and three spin-offs. The planning office is listing which stages are booked in advance, and for what film. Listed on those plans - before Christmas at least - was Indiana Jones 5. Work on that has been mooted as a possible job as part of those long-term contracts. It's very much being described as a "possible lead in to another Indy," but nothing more than that.

February 24, 2014
Market Saw: Two more Indiana Jones features are in the negotiation stages as per Ford's contract clause on Star Wars, which is the primary reason he didn't 'publicly' or 'privately' commit.

Tracking Board: INDIANA JONES 5 (SALES)

March 25, 2014
Latino Review: There is a date and if Indiana Jones 5 is not moving forward by then, the studios are 100% prepared to recast a younger Dr. Jones and ready up a new trilogy. Bradley Cooper is at the top of the list. Darabont pitched an idea.

March 26, 2014
Slash Film: A high-placing source tells /Film the story is not true.

March 26, 2014
Huffington Post: According to a source close to the production, Cooper is not under consideration to star and there are no plans to reboot the franchise with another actor.

March 26, 2014
Frank Marshall: "Due to the ridiculous rumors that keep popping up, like agents pipe dreams, I will stop commenting on our projects until I have real news. I can only confirm that Katy Perry will NOT be the new Indiana Jones."

March 26, 2014
Frank Darabont: "This is an internet rumor with not a shred of truth in it. I have not pitched an idea for a proposed Indiana Jones movie, nor has anybody approached me with such an idea. The inaccurate report on Latino Review was the first I'd heard of it."

March 27, 2014
Digital Spy: Lucasfilm said that the claim "isn't true."

May 16, 2014
Karen Allen: "People are always very interested in knowing if we're going to do another Indiana Jones film. That's a pretty popular question. There probably is an answer although I don't have that answer. It's really in George Lucas's hands at this point because he's the one in charge of there being a script, and it'll only happen if there's a script that everybody loves. I don't really have a strong feeling about where they would take it. Someplace interesting. Something, you know, intriguing. I don't have a story in my head for it. I'll let them do that."

June 2, 2014
The Sun: "Producers have asked their casting department for a top 10 list of potential Indies, who must have wide-ranging appeal." Robert Pattinson is reported to be the surprise favourite... other big names on the execs' list are Channing Tatum, Chris Pine, Chris Hemsworth and Rob's Twilight co-star Kellan Lutz. "Insiders say they hope to reboot the franchise with two quick films in succession, so would need a three-year commitment from their leading man."

June 2, 2014
Daily Star: "Disney is looking at its long-term options for the Indiana Jones franchise. They feel that the series has huge potential on many levels, starting with the films leading to other spin-offs like games which can generate more money than movies. Rob is top of the initial list because he has showed his acting stripes away from Twilight. But the competition will be stiff."

June 4, 2014
E! Online: Sources tell us there's no truth to the rumors.

June 13, 2014
Robert Pattinson: "I swear people just do that so I get bad press afterwards. I didn't even know they were rebooting it. No, no."

June 16, 2014
Robert Pattinson: "I don't know. Why is that coming out? I honestly don't understand what it's all about. Man, I wish! I know, it's crazy! It's like all those other B.S. rumors."

July 3, 2014
John Rhys Davies: "Sallah is probably the last cultural figure from the Arab world that we love. The world has changed and is changing, and that's probably why we can't really bring him back into another movie. It's a world that's long gone and departed."

July 4, 2014
John Rhys Davies: He had not yet been approached about the rumored fifth Indiana Jones film and any role he might play in it. "One and three are just better films than two and four, and I wonder why that is. Is there something missing in two and four? Sallah was perhaps the last Egyptian Muslim in western fiction that was a hero. The world of the 80s was still a fairly innocent world. The world of 2014 is a far more polarized world, and that's very sad. If we can't have Arab heroes anymore, then the world has gone wrong."

November 1, 2014
John Rhys Davies: "When you think of Sallah, he's probably the last popular Arab character in the western canon for the last fifty or sixty years, and that's probably one reason why we won't see him again, I would think. Times have changed, and our perception of people has changed, and that's a tragedy for all of us actually, to say nothing of the actor who'd been playing him perhaps."
Q: "Have either of you been contacted about a fifth Indiana Jones film?"
John Rhys Davies: "Not me. She'd always get back in."
Karen Allen: "No, I know that they would like to do one, and I know that there is work being done on a potential story for a potential script, but I think it's still in that phase. That's my understanding."

November 26, 2014
Jonathan Rinzler: "If the public wants them, yes."

December 10, 2014
Bob Iger: "We'd love to make another Indiana Jones movie but we're pacing ourselves right now," launching Star Wars first.

December 12, 2014
Latino Review: "New Indiana Jones... with different younger actor. We told ya this before."
