Indiana Jones Sightseeing

Besides the Indy attractions and exhibitions there are some other interesting places where you can view Indiana Jones things.

Studios Back-lot Tour
Although the Epic Stunt Spectacular is the main attraction, there's still more for the Indiana Jones fan to do at MGM Studios. The Studios Back-lot Tour is a show where visitors are introduced to the art of movie making and the creation of special effects. Visitors see and learn some very interesting things, but best of all is the exhibition of some real props. Outside the exhibition, there are the "big props" like airplanes and boats. There can be found some military looking vehicles that are said to have been used in Last Crusade, like the tank, some motorbikes and jeeps.

The Great Movie Ride
Another MGM Studios attraction is The Great Movie Ride. The ride takes visitors through the greatest movie scenes of all times. From the Yellow Brick Road with Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, to the Alien spaceship with Sigourney Weaver, and the Casablanca Tarmac with Bogart. Among others there is Indy discovering the Ark in the Well of Souls with Sallah. The scene is staged so well that captures the atmosphere of the movie quiet well.

Raider truck kiddy ride

This kiddy ride is fully operational and can be found in the Vienna Prater, an entertainment park in the center of the city of Vienna, Austria. The truck model is about 2 meters high and 2.5 meters long and is about 1/3 smaller than a real truck. While this is obviously not an exact model of the real truck used in Raiders, there are lots of details that make this kiddy-style truck still worth to carry the name Indiana Jones:

The Ark in the back of the truck.
The "Cairo" sign on the ground, near the left front tire.
Movie related details like the roof, the dirty windshield and the radiator grill.

The painting job is very detailed, including dents and bullet holes. And most of all: When you start the ride, the Raiders March is played.

Village Center 10 Cinemas
In the northern area of Athens, Greece is located the multiplex cinemas Village Cinemas that opened its doors to the public in 1995. Ever since, moviegoers are welcomed in the lobby area by a life-size model of Indy cracking the whip. Although not as accurate as Madame Taussaud’s this model features a more loyal wardrobe. The origin of this model is still unknown.

Indiana Jones on Mars
In 1997 NASA send a small robot-vehicle called Pathfinder on Mars to collect information about the environment on the red planet. For a better navigation of the little vehicle the scientists decided to give every rock and stone in the landing area a specific name. They choose names like Scoopy Doo, Grommit or Yogi. Rock nr. 35 was named... Indiana Jones.
