Speaking with TheForce.Cast,
animation legend Paul Dini, who not only was the genius behind so
many of the great Warner Brothers cartoons over the past 30 years
from Batman to Pinky and the Brain, talked about
Indiana Jones.
Near the end of the great interview that has Mr. Dini speaking
about his start with Lucasfilm in the 1980s working on the Ewoks
and Droids cartoons and to his latest work on the new Clone
Wars cartoon, mentioned Indy. Dini states that a show with
Indy done in the style of the legendary, Max Fleischer-style of
art used so effectively on the Superman cartoons on the
1940s, similar to the Batman art deco look, would be perfect
for Indy. He goes on to say a direct to DVD, full length theatrical
feature, weekly or five day a week series would be perfect for Indiana
Jones. Paul states that is all in George Lucas's hands, but if it
was up to him he would do an animated Indy ala the old Republic
movie serials that inspired Indiana Jones to begin with.
I know that I speak for the legions of Indiana Jones fans out there
saying we echo those sentiments brought up by Paul Dini. Although,
Indy himself, Harrison Ford, expressed reservations on an animated
Indy incarnation and that it would lessen the work done, I disagree.
It would transport the character to a new world of imagination,
and most of all, look great and in the right hands, be a hell of
a lot of fun. Maybe this would be a terrific topic of conversation
for The Raven
or a Rob's poll on the Indy-Cast, but as they say in sales -- if
you don't ask for it; you don't get it! So start talking, Indyfans.

Dini's interview at and jump to the 70:15 mark to hear him talk
about his ideas for an animated Indiana Jones!
