Indiana Jones unlockable in LucasArts' Mercenaries

Saturday, January 22, 2005 - Gilles V

The latest LucasArts action game for the Xbox and PlayStation 2 called Mercenaries has two unlockable classic Lucasfilm characters to play with. They are Han Solo and Indiana Jones!

By accomplishing certain tasks, players can unlock and play as either Indiana Jones or Han Solo, both characters were played by Harrison Ford as you will certainly know.
To unlock Indy in the PS2 version and Han Solo in the Xbox version you must collect 20 "national treasures," which are bonus items hidden in the game. You can then select the two characters using the in-game PDA interface.
However, for PS2 users to unlock Solo and for Xbox users to unlock Indy, you must probably perform a different task.

Go to GameSpot and TeamXbox for more information and screenshots.

Actor Amrish Puri passed away

Wednesday, January 12, 2005 - Gilles V

MSN India reported the very sad news that actor Amrish Puri passed away in Mumbai this morning after suffering a brain hemorrhage. He was 72-years-old. Puri is most famous for his role as Mogambo in the Bollywood film Mr India.

Mola RamBut the film that won him worldwide acclaim was Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in which he played the unforgettable villain character Mola Ram! The picture of the high priest with his horned headgear, surrounded by skulls, is imprinted in many minds.

Interestingly, Puri almost didn't do the prequel to Raiders of the Lost Ark because the film's plot, he felt after reading the script, was no different from that of any regular Hindi movie and didn't offer him any challenge.
It was Sir Richard Attenborough who convinced him to do the film, pointing out that it was Spielberg's technique that made his films special. Puri also played a small role in Attenborough's critically acclaimed film Gandhi.

Amrish Puri's death is a great loss for Bollywood and Indiana Jones fans worldwide!
