  Wednesday, June 4, 2003 - Gilles V

AFI's 100 Years... 100 Heroes & Villains show is over and the best film heroes & villains are known. Unfortunately the experts of the motion picture community didn't give Indiana Jones the #1 hero spot... Indy stranded on the second place, right before James Bond and Rick Blaine (from Casablanca). Which is still very good!! The number 1 spot went to Atticus Finch from To Kill A Mockingbird, who completely deserves it. Here follow the top 10 heroes & villains from the special:

Heroes:

  1. Atticus Finch from 'To Kill A Mockingbird'
  2. Indiana Jones from 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'
  3. James Bond from 'Dr. No'
  4. Rick Blaine from 'Casablanca'
  5. Will Kane from 'High Noon'
  6. Clarice Starling from 'Silence of the Lambs'
  7. Rocky Balboa from 'Rocky'
  8. Ellen Ripley from 'Aliens'
  9. George Bailey from 'It’s a Wonderful Life'
  10. T.E. Lawrence from 'Lawrence Of Arabia'

Villains:

  1. Hannibal Lecter from 'Silence of the Lambs'
  2. Norman Bates from 'Psycho'
  3. Darth Vader from 'Star Wars'
  4. The Wicked Witch of the West from 'The Wizard of Oz'
  5. Nurse Ratched from 'One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest'
  6. Mr. Potter from 'It’s a Wonderful Life'
  7. Alex Forrest from 'Fatal Attraction'
  8. Phyllis Dietrichson from 'Double Indemnity'

TV Guide's Heroes & Villains poll results...

  Monday, June 02, 2003 - Gilles V

TV Guide Online held a Top 100 Heroes & Villains poll last week. Giving all film fans the chance to vote for his/her favorite Hero & Villain from a list of 100 film characters. TV Guide has just posted the results on their website and guess who's currently (still) the most popular film hero... right, Indiana Jones!

Not really a big surprise but still... 15% of the voters selected Indy as their favorite hero. The second favorite film hero is George Bailey (James Stewart) from in It's a Wonderful Life who received 7% of the votes. That's less than half the votes Indy received.
On the third place we find T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) from in Terminator 2: Judgment Day and the currently very popular Neo (Keanu Reeves), who is currently kicking
"virtual" asses in Matrix Reloaded, can be found on the 6th place with 5% of the votes.

And who is the most popular villain then? Darth Vader of course! 26% of the voters selected Lord Vader as the best villain in film history.

Don't forget to view AFI's 100 Years... 100 Heroes & Villains show on CBS tomorrow evening at 8:00 PM EST!
