An
Indiana Jones DVD advert with balls!! |

I
have just received a new Adventures
of Indiana Jones DVD Collection
magazine advertisement. And it's an
interesting one! This advert is scanned
from Playboy magazine
and reads "No
one's got balls like Indiana Jones."
Erik,
the person who provided me this magazine
scan, also said that we might also
find this same add in other men's
magazines such as Maxim,
Stuff, and possibly
even GQ and Esquire.
Now you finally have a good excuse
to buy one of these magazines...
And
opposite to that advert, Aaron Higgins
has emailed me another new Adventures
of Indiana Jones DVD Collection
magazine advertisement he had found
in the Woman's Day
magazine. (Aaron wasn't reading it,
but his mom was and she pointed it
out to him...) This advert reads "Own
a Classic Ford".
Many
thanks to artist Erik from Aiekon
Art Studio for the Playboy
magazine scan and Aaron Higgins' mother
for the Woman's Day
magazine scan.

First
Indiana Jones DVD Collection review
online!! |

The
BBC has posted the
first official
review of the Adventures
of Indiana Jones DVD Collection
online! And it's one big rave! The
reviewer gives the DVD box set a solid
five-star rating and guarantees the
fans "hours
of fun that other movie box sets will
struggle to match."! Here
follows a part of the review:
Each
movie is dealt with in turn. The
range of interviewees is vast, with
even bit-part players dug up for
a chat. George Lucas is open and
often amusing with his quips, and
Spielberg matches his honesty.
The most entertaining extra is the
early screen tests by potential
Indys such as Tom Selleck and Tim
Matheson. What you don't get to
see is anything of substance in
terms of deleted material. It does
exist but neither Spielberg nor
Lucas seems to want it included.
There is, however, great animatic
footage, and video test footage
for the mine cart chase sequence.
Harrison Ford comes across as grumpy
in his most recent movies, but he's
amiable on set in all the footage
we see, and is often fooling about.
He also insists that he doesn't
mind snakes, bugs or rats. To prove
the point, he plays with a rat.
The
reviewer also mentions how absolutely
stunning the film restorations for
the film are and also promises that
this "box
set delivers an overriding sense of
adventure, from seeing and hearing
the movies like never before to the
beautifully animated menus, to watching
the fascinating behind-the-scenes
material."

It will make the waiting, a little
over a month from now, even harder
than it is already.
rbf1138
has let me know that dvd.ign.com
has a short article on the upcoming
Indiana Jones DVDs plus some good
quality behind-the-scenes photos.
But you will certainly have seen these
photos before if you have read our

Temple of Doom,
and Last

I
have received an image from Emilio
López of the Indiana Jones
Blockbuster postcard
given away when reserving a copy of
the DVDs. The postcard includes 3
coupons for 3 free rentals and on
the back it gives some details about
the Indiana Jones promotion. The postcard
is part of the mexican Blockbuster
promotion along with the Indy bag
(which will be given away in October
along with the DVDs).

BBC
talked with Frank Marshall about the Indy
DVDs |

The
BBC got together
with the team behind the four-disc
Indiana Jones DVD box set and producer
of the films, Frank Marshall, for
a candid chat this week. Here follows
their report:
As
you may already know, the films
will come on a disc each, with no
special features. Those have been
reserved for disc four, where you'll
find a superb two-hour documentary
and a number of in-depth featurettes.
Rumours
are still abounding as to what will
be included so let's clear some
up. There will be no standalone
deleted scenes. Yes, they do exist,
but neither Steven Spielberg nor
George Lucas wants them included
as they feel the movies are perfect
as they are. The Temple
of Doom DVD for the UK
will be the edited version, which
seems like an extraordinary decision.
Plus, none of the effects have been
enhanced with CGI (which personally
I think is a good move).
What
you do get, though, are the films
looking and sounding stunning. Obviously
I expected a good job but Raiders
of the Lost Ark looks like
it was made this year - it's that
clear. The two-hour documentary
is highly entertaining and I was
staggered by the amount of behind-the-scenes
footage available for all three
movies. Next week I'll go further
in-depth on what to expect from
this formidable boxset. Meanwhile
I do have some room here to talk
about the next Indy movie, which
Frank confirmed would not be reliant
on CGI effects (has he run this
by George, I wonder?). It will retain
a B-movie feel (as with the previous
films), original cast members will
be invited back, and a lot is planned
for the eventual DVD release.

R2
project attended the Indiana
Jones DVD launch press event in London
that took place today and already
placed a short article about what
they saw. Here follow R2 project's
comments on what they saw of the Indiana
Jones DVDs:
I've
just been to a presentation of The
Indiana Jones Trilogy and
I have to say this is looking like
one hell of a set. I don't want
to go into details now, as I'm on
battery power but here's a few tips:
- The
sound and picture on all three
releases look absolutely stunning,
completely unbelievable on the
three clips we saw.
- The
extras on disk 4 also look breathtaking,
the disk producers did their own
digging into the archives to turn
up a 2 hour documentary as well
as the four smaller features that
concentrate on the technical aspects
of the film.
- There
is one slight mystery though,
Jim Ward was asked a couple of
times about the "bloopers"
in the first film, a snake reflection
in glass and a ramp during the
truck dragging scene. Would they
be on the disk ? He wouldn't answer
directly, we'll have to buy the
disk we where told.
