Deleted scenes on the Indiana Jones DVDs

  Friday, May 9, 2003 - Aaron H

Even as the excitement over the official DVD announcement wears off, more news is coming in from all around. This report was picked up by our friends at TheForce.Net:

I was at the UK CollectorMania event in Milton Keynes over the bank holiday weekend. This was attended by, amongst others (who included Andy Serkis and Daniel Logan!!) John Rhys-Davis, Paul Freeman and Julian Glover who all had parts in the three Indy movies. Anyway, the local cinema had a tie in event where they screened all three Indy movies back to back. It was really great to see the movies in their widescreen glory despite the original print of Raiders looking a bit weathered! Raiders was introduced by Paul Freeman and Julian Glover and Temple by John. John let it be known that he had recorded a commentary track for Raiders and that there would also be some deleted scenes on the discs. For Last Crusade Julian Glover mentioned that there was a whole flying chase sequence filmed that was dropped in favor of the motorcycle chase, and this additional footage should find it's way onto the DVD.
When asked if he had a part in the fourth movie John replied "what fourth movie" before commenting that he didn't feel that the Spielberg that made the first three would be the Spielberg (i.e. post Schindler's List) that would make the forth.

Indiana Jones DVD box officially announced!!

  Tuesday, May 6, 2003 - Jawad M

It is finally announced on the official Indiana Jones site. Indiana Jones Trilogy will come on DVD on November 4th as The Adventures of Indiana Jones - The Complete DVD Movie Collection and will feature all three films plus a 4th disc featuring all the behind the scenes coverage. All three films will be available in Full and Widescreen which have been digitally restored for better picture and sound quality.

According Jim Ward, VP of Marketing at Lucasfilm, the fourth disc explores every facet of how the films were made "from stunts to visual effects to the music and sound. We take viewers around the world to explore the history behind the Indiana Jones legends. It’s been great to work with Steven and George on a project that means so much to them, and having them involved on the DVD collection really makes it special." Laurent Bouzereau who is the producer on Spielberg DVDs handled the project.

I can't believe the day is finally here. Fans have been waiting for this title to come out ever since DVD format was born. For those who's interest has been buried deep down in the ruins somewhere, watch the trailer to resurrect it. It sure will bring back lots of memories and force you to save up for this November. Mark your calendars for November 4th and save up $49.95 to buy the long awaited Indiana Jones Collection on DVD. Read the full press release here.

Also, you can take a better look at all 5 DVD box covers - including the 4th 'behind the scenes' disc cover - at The R2 Project.

Thanks to the dozens of fans who have emailed us about the official DVD announcement.
