Let me introduce you to The Adventures of Gabriel Hunt;
a brand new line of pulp adventures novels inspired by adventure
writers like H. Rider Haggard, Sax Rohmer, and Edgar Rice Burroughs,
as well as by films ranging from Buster Crabbe's old black-and-white
movie serials to Indiana Jones!
Gabriel Hunt creator Charles
Ardai explains that both Indy and title character Hunt are:
"two-fisted American explorers, for instance, who travel to
all corners of the globe getting into and out of scrapes while pursuing
lost secrets and priceless treasures. But Gabriel's adventures are
set in the present day, and he's not a college professor by day,
and... he doesn't wear a hat."
All the books will be published with Gabriel Hunt himself credited
as the author, but behind this pseudonym are some pretty impressive
authors including Hollywood screenwriter David J. Schow (writer
of The Crow), current Edgar Award nominee Christa Faust,
James Bond novelist Raymond Benson, and Edgar & Shamus Award
winner Charles Ardai.
Stephen Jared, our own adventure stories expert, recently had the
chance to interview Charles Ardai about his The Adventures of
Gabriel Hunt project. And what an insightful
interview it turned out to be!
The first The Adventures of Gabriel Hunt novel titled
Hunt at the Well of Eternity arrives in stores tomorrow
(April 28) and will be followed by five other adventures later this
year!
